‘White plague’ is on the rise in the US — it’s deadlier than COVID and becoming antibiotic-resistant

The New York Post just published an infectious disease alert around “White Plague”. This seems to be their new term for TB. The alarm is that it has now again taken over as the #1 infectious disease in the US and the world. Formerly, COVID was #1.

The possible reason for this attention to TB might have been the case cited in the article about the Venezuelan immigrant who shot & killed the Loyola Univ. freshman but could not be arraigned as he was hospitalized with TB. Not sure it is worth another mention in our blog, but it is validation that folks are paying attention to the CDC’s previous warning about the rise of TB in the US … and another slang term for Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
