Citrus greening infects entire trees before it’s detected
Recent findings from researchers at the American Phytopathological Society have demonstrated that the bacteria responsible for Citrus Greening disease (HLB or Huanglongbing), Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) attacks the entire tree before symptoms appear. This brought the authors to give quantitative timeframes that the whole tree can be infected months before symptoms are present. Trana Discovery has a program to identify inhibitors with Liberibacter sp. ready to proceed once funding is found.
Currently, human antibiotics are being used to try to superficially treat the infection and what is needed is an agricultural product that is used only to treat HLB.
