Trana Discovery fully supports the appeal by Michelle McMurry-Heath, MD, PhD and Pres./CEO of Biotechnology Innovation Organization [BIO] to create a new business model for drug development with antibiotics.  With the increasing threat of multi-drug resistant infections becoming untreatable, a new approach is necessary.

Among other items, she encourages everyone to support the 2 bills in Congress that may ameliorate the problem (DISARM Act & the PASTEUR Act).  Currently, multi-drug resistant microorganisms kill 700,000 worldwide every year.  It is estimated that possibly 10 million people will die from infections caused by these organisms by 2050.
