Ancient genomes found in historically recorded plague pandemic

New findings from a mass burial site in the UK highlight the spread of the first bubonic/pneumonic plague caused by Yersinia pestis.  These remains date back to the Justinian plague that spread throughout the known Roman world & Europe during the 6th and 8th centuries.  Comparing these new UK strains with those from various parts of Europe demonstrate the diversity of these strains and mutating capabilities of virulence genes.  Trana Discovery stands ready with identified tRNA targets that would avoid the presence of routine mutations of the Y. pestis genome.
