The need for new antibiotics

This article puts an interesting angle on how to promote a new safer class of antibiotics.  This side effect is rare but as noted here can be a devastating side effect of quinolones.  Tendon rupture has been noted in all the old and newer analogs of quinolones, the fluoroquinolones.  However, it is many times forgotten as a potentially life-changing side effect as the years since the launch of these compounds pass.
