Group sees flat growth for banana industry

The Philippines are the 2nd largest exporter of bananas next to Ecuador and has seen a drastic decrease in banana production due to banana leaf wilt disease.  The pandemic of the TR4 strain of Fusarium mold is thought to be the main driver of this reduction.  According to the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association, this fungus has reduced the banana crop by 30% since 2011.
