Superbug Infections Threaten India Cancer Patients
Epidemiologists in India are raising the alarm for leukemia patients around their country. CRE (carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae) infections in India now kill 2/3 of patients with leukemia within 4 weeks of diagnosis. That is a dramatic increase in prevalence since first observed in 2014. Trana Discovery has a solution. Shared tRNA among the most lethal CRE that are crucial and essential to these bacteria have been identified. Using technology created by Trana, screening thousands of compounds is possible for inhibitors of these crucial tRNA.
The resulting selective antibiotics will leave the important constituents of a patient’s microbiome intact and avoid the transference of resistance genes among Enterobacteriaceae.
