CDC Updates the Burden Estimate of Healthcare-Associated Infections in U.S. Hospitals

Healthcare-Associated Infections are still prevalent in 3% of patients in hospitals around the United States.  A survey conducted by the CDC demonstrate that hospitalized patients were found in 2015 to be 16% less likely to experience an HAI, but that more work is needed to see real reductions in this healthcare burden.   The CDC emphasizes that on any given day, chances are that 1 in 31 patients will experience at least one HAI.  The latest survey results were from questionnaires sent to 199 acute care hospitals across the US.
